I have some clinical hypnosis audios for you today recorded by Adam Eason. (see below)
Body To The Mind
But first of all I will tell you about how I met Adam and got interested in the field.
The last eight years of my nursing career were out in Muscat Oman where I was helping to set up a Nurse Training School at the University Hospital.
My wife and I returned with our two kids to Poole in Dorset.
In Oman I had begun to create websites for businesses (Antique Dealers) from the UK and the intention was to begin a web design business. In 1996 we returned home to get the business going.
Crazy in many ways because I was a little bit early. I spent a large amount of time showing businesses what internet websites looked like andtrying to persuade them they needed a website.
One of the ways I got new clients was through Network meetings and I joined BNI. At the heart of every BNI meeting throughout the world is the “BNI 60 Second Slot”. This is each member’s opportunity to educate everyone at their meeting – members and visitors alike about their business.
One of the people I met was a hypnotherapist called Adam Eason. I enjoyed listening to his 60 second presentations. There are so many myths and misunderstandings about how hypnosis works.
I knew very little about clinical hypnotherapy before I met Adam – but that was about to change.
Before I tell you tomorrow more about my own introduction to the subject I will offer you these audios to listen to.
Introduction To Self-Hypnosis and Self-Hypnosis Sessions Audios
One audio is an Introduction from Adam with a simple introduction to clinical hypnosis.
This website domain is Wats-on.net and the tag line is Physical and Mental Health. My blog Wats-on my Mind is my retirement project to get as many people as possible using hypnosis and psychological techniques in their everyday lives.
The extraordinary thing about our bodies is that so much is governed directly from our powerful organ the brain.
Get control of those thoughts!
I was hospital nursing for 30 years and I have to admit that most people working directly with everyday illnesses, surgery etc can be very busy – oh and HOW BUSY!
The emotions, fears and anxiety of patients going through the clinical scenario can be less than ideal. No bad intent from the staff, but the administrative pressures, time pressures and safety issues, money pressures all reduce the time available.
Nursing tried to do something about this.
I was involved when something called the Nursing Process was introduced which was a scientific method to ensure the quality of patient care.
The 5 Steps of the Nursing Process
The first step of the nursing process is assessment. During this phase, the nurse gathers information about a patient’s psychological, physiological, sociological, and spiritual status.
Nurse making an educated judgment about health problems of a patient – eg sleep deprivation
Once a patient and nurse agree on the diagnoses, a plan of action can be developed. The Nursing Interventions Classification may also be used as a resource for planning.
The implementing phase is where the nurse follows through on the decided plan specific to each patient.
Evaluation to determine of the goals for patient wellness have been met.
Still not Getting To The Mental Issues
I can only talk in general terms and my comments here are fairly sweeping.
The thing is that nursing leaders had realised that the clinical interventions be they medical or surgical could have a great effect on the well-being of the patient.
Of course I worked directly with doctors and witnessed the pressures on them – such as crazy number of overnight hours on call after a full days work – so I am not knocking them – but their interest could often be focused on a specific area of the patients body. Nurses had a more well-being holistic approach because of their closer relationship with the patient.
Despite these efforts by nurses to personalise the care and offer a secure, safe treatments, I still believe we did not begin to really get to grip with the mental aspects of the care.
For example I remember a patient who had changed quite suddenly. He clearly was concerned and I was trying to establish whether something had happened with his family etc. It was several days before I found out from a relative that he was concerned because a man had died in the ward, that he had been talking to. He thought that the patient had the same condition as him and was convinced he was also not going to go home. What is going on in a busy ward is very unsettling and a poor environem
Let me remind you what I said in my blog a couple of days ago.
The reason that I called my Blog ‘Wats-on My Mind’ is to introduce and educate as many as possible about controlling what goes on inside our heads. As a nurse I realised that people with positive approach to their illness or surgery responded so much better than those that worried and were anxious. My work with Adam and observing his hypnotherapy work reinforced that point.
My feeling that I had while I was nursing has been reinforced since I started working with Adam Eason a clinical Hypnotherapist.
So what I will introduce you to tomorrow is a really fleeting look at what has influenced me since I retired from nursing in 1996.
You will hopefully understand why I link the mental and physical so closely.
For now just think about blushing – or sexual attraction and physical reaction to just seeing the person of your dreams. Pretty powerful physical responses from thoughts.
I have a RETIREMENT PROJECT. Shouted out loud with huge letters because it is EXCITING for me and hopefully for you.
Who wants to come along for the ride? Well …. let me not get ahead of myself.
During the last six months I have been setting up a membership area for my new ‘Wats-On My Mind’ project. Work, work and more work.
Now the promotion of the membership area begins and it is for a NEW audience(s) – so all of the social media work begins.
First of all I want to tell you story after story about why I am setting up this is setting about a retirement project being 70, years old.
I am 71 years this month – which must seem a strange time to start something new, – BUT of course just wait for the story …
In fact many of my life decisions have been weird – but fantastic stories…
Any regrets? – NO.
Made awful mistakes at times – but what a way to learn.
The strange thing for me writing a blog is actually wanting to say too much at once. As I am writing this – I am pulling back from stories today as I am trying to set out a structure and putting a plan in place.
So here it is – below is a basic plan of the areas I will cover if you follow my blog this month.
HEALTH – MENTAL AND PHYSICAL.
Health has has been my life. I trained as a nurse when I was 21. You will get background to how I moved from being a electronics engineer – through a temporary job and on to a starting out in a job that was predominantly women in those days. I loved being in a set of nursing recruits – 48 women and me and one other guy – hey the joy. Stories… well carefully selected stories
A confession though – I still admit that I never really learned how women think – even with that constant exposure. Men are from Mars, Women from Venus. Stories …
When I retired from nursing in 1996 – I set up a web design company. One of my clients was a guy called Adam Eason who is a hypnotherapist. Together we developed audio and video products, books and a training school. What a fabulous subject hypnosis is – BUT very often totally misunderstood. The shame is that so few people understand the power of the mind. There is total ignorance about the subject – Stories …
In fact, there are many stories about my introduction and growth on the internet. For eight years I was out in the Muscat, Oman helping to commission a new hospital. It was a University Hospital and while I was there I first came across the www – very basic but infancy of something very important.
I put up my first website about antiques in 1994. and been involved with 2500 websites since. Can you even imagine the changes over those years. Putting up my first website with a very slow modem over phones from the Middle East is the first of my Internet Stories…
PEOPLE ON THE INTERNET
Anyone wishing to run any sort of internet business needs help. It is impossible to know it all. Just keeping up with new developments is a full time job – without earning a penny. During the month I will introduce you to some of my mentors and professional experts. You will never get a recommendation from me about anyone suspect. There may be the odd affiliate link – but again that will be explained and I will have always used the service or know the person that I am recommending.
I will introduce you to some of my online mentors and friends.
I will introduce you to people that are mustard.
Let me give you an example – Paul Taubman
Paul is the man to turn to for WordPress Security. I came across Paul and this challenge through a marketing membership – so more about Paul, David and Jen and others another day – via stories.
MY RETIREMENT PROJECT – FROM PRODUCTS TO STREAMING MEMBERSHIP SERVICE
This is a time in life when I can really do what I want to do and not worry so much about the financial income, although income will be fine. But it’s more about doing something that is enjoyable and worthwhile.
The reason that I called my Blog ‘Wats-on My Mind’ is to introduce and educate as many as possible about controlling what goes on inside our heads. As a nurse I realised that people with positive approach to their illness or surgery responded so much better than those that worried and were anxious. My work with Adam reinforced that point.
I am not a hypnotherapist or Cognitive Behavioural Therapist – BUT I have recorded hours of videos and audios and have indeed used hypnosis sessions for my own personal issues. More stories…
OK – SO WHY THE STORIES THIS MONTH
My Secret Tip For Today.
If you have read yesterday’s blog you will see that I listen to podcasts every morning as I take my exercise walk.
This morning I listened to the 100th podcast recorded by a guy called Brandon Gaille. I have listened to them all and what an education – all for free. I feel I really know him though and that is the key point.
Here is a paragraph from his home page. In fact this below is an introduction to many stories that punctuate his podcast.
FROM BRAIN TUMOR TO 1 MILLION After a brain tumor left him physically and mentally disabled, Brandon overcame the odds to regain his health so that he could help his pregnant wife beat breast cancer. Three years later he launched his blog, BrandonGaille.com. Within four months, his blog had surpassed 100,000 monthly visitors. Less than two years after his first post, there were over 1 million business owners reading Brandon’s blog every month.
The thing is that the stories improve the relationship. I know and respect Brandon – and I have never met him.
MY SECRET EXPOSED
If you have found your way to the bottom of this blog post then you may be somebody I am looking for.
I am looking for affiliates for my evergreen hypnosis membership website. Affiliates care who they work with – rightly.
The most important issue for me is that anyone working with me – can understand me – trust me – know how I click and so on.
The stories I will tell you during October will help you get to know me – warts and all. I will also have to add some video as well. For you to comment and make contact – you will make my day.
Otter is for recording your voice and getting a transcription done right away to turn it into text
Ah ha – mind cogs were whirling.
I could get a blog written in draft format while I am taking my morning exercise.
It is some time since I got a blog written – why is it so low on the list – it matters. Yes this approach will help.
But There Is Something Else – Video
I am building a list of potential affiliates for my retirement project of selling hypnosis products and my aim at the moment is to build that mailing list. My online marketing friends keep on giving me loads of advice about using video to help build my list. Most of those guys make it look so easy and walk along chatting away with phones on selfie sticks as if it is quite natural.
So this morning – that was the aim. NO messing about – just record a video and write the draft of a blog during my early morning walk.
Blog Writing On The Go – How Did it Go?
Well not a going proposition at this time of the year. Only just light enough at 6am. Never mind – it is just a test. Facebook Live next at any time and anywhere.
Surprisingly relaxed (nobody around of course which helped – not even the dog walkers)
I never gave what I said on the video a thought really – which was odd. Just got on with it.
I was breathing heavily and a bit sweaty as I had just been walking quite fast – good job that we don’t record smells.
I had a square screen for filming the video which was a mistake I believe for a video out on location. It would have been better to show more of the venue.
I had got a little app running on my phone which tells me how far I’ve walked and at what speed etc. It started to give me a message in the middle of recording and I thought it would come out on the video. It didn’t – but it did distract me. Turn off all apps.
Otter was really great and without learning my voice patterns the transcription was very good. There are limits of course – Michael Selzner was ‘Michael Cells are’
When I got back home I very casually announced that I had been for my usual walk BUT had made a video and written a blog at the same time.
Babs wasn’t really impressed! I will have to add another couple of tasks to win that one.
Yes indeed, a fairly well-known UK hypnotherapist who markets her one-hour stop smoking programme actually also refers to the 1964 study by Von Dedenroth (conducted in 1964, published in American Journal of Clinical Hypnosis in 1968) who made these claims of a 94% success rate. She claims to have a ‘comparably high success rate’ and there are many others that use this study in their marketing literature if you google it.
Then Adam points out there have been several other bits of research since that have not been so convincing.
Then he points out:
However, however, however, all is not lost, oh no…
Racing to our rescue in the early 1990s, as featured in the New Scientist and referred to by many of us in the field, was published a study by Viswesvaran and Schmidt (1992) who had conducted a metaanalysis on 633 studies of smoking cessation which included a whopping 48 studies in the hypnosis category which they investigated.
This also had a total number of 6,020 participants. Which is impressive. Hypnosis did prove to be better and more effective than just about every other treatment it was compared to including nicotine replacement therapy and aversion techniques, yet still only really offering up a success rate far inferior to that of the Von Dedenroth 1968 study.
It is complex and there are other factors.
Our Stop Smoking Product Warning
In our Hypnosis For Download store we have a self-hypnosis product called ‘Stop Smoking Now’
But right at the top of the sales page we have the following copy:
Let me be honest with you.
Please please – do not buy this product if you REALLY DON’T want to give up smoking.
The straight forward truth is because it won’t work. So you might as well save the purchase price of this product and buy another pack of cigarettes instead.
Please don’t buy this as a gift for someone else if they don’t REALLY WANT to give up smoking.
The absolutely essential first step is to WANT TO GIVE UP SMOKING
Hypnosis will work if you want your behaviour, addiction or whatever to change.
Without the desire – well forget it.
I like to think of hypnosis as the ‘willpower assistant’.
Many people who have used hypnosis will say the same thing. “I don’t know how it worked – but it did.”
Now The Stop Smoking Story
I remember Adam telling this story to a class of his hypnotherapy students. Adam is a great story teller and this is not exactly word for word but the giso is there.
A man (who I will call John) came to see Adam at his practice to stop smoking. All the usual chats were done. John made it clear that somebody had suggested hypnosis – but he himself, didn’t believe it could work because he was sure nobody could hypnotise him.
Adam tried to give him examples of how we are all in a trance like state at times, reading a book or watching a film. Just think how absorbed you are and ignoring people around you. What about calling a child downstairs for lunch – when does play and imagination not interfere.
John and Adam agreed to give it all a go.
The hypnosis induction was done and Adam could see that John’s eyes were flickering and that there were breathing changes. In fact Adam knew that John was in hypnosis. The stop smoking script was provided and after 20 minutes it was time for 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and now you are back in your surroundings.
Well asked Adam “How was that”.
“No” says John, I can’t see that working. I could hear you but I wasn’t hypnotised.
Adam then suggested that John wait till the next session in a weeks time to discuss it again.
During the week John rang Adam to tell him that even though he had paid for the next session that was no problem. He wasn’t going to attend because he didn’t thing he could be hypnotised.
AND then came the funny bit.
John carried on by saying to Adam that he really didn’t need it now ANYWAY as he had manage to stop smoking all by himself. He pointed out that he didn’t know how that had happened but he clearly didn’t need hypnosis.
I love the title of this blog post written by Sarah Ban
I Tried Hypnosis for Insomnia. Then My Skin Cleared Up. I don’t understand it, either, but I’m not complaining.
How often have I seen that.
So many people who have used hypnosis will say the same thing. “I don’t know how it worked – but it did.”
Adam Eason my hypnotherapist friend was amazed when he was treated for his psoriasis by a clinical hypnotherapist.
He was completely surprised by the effect on his skin as he had tried everything else prescribed.
That is in fact what led Adam to learn about hypnosis and start his hypnotherapy career.
Back to Sarah’s article…
The blog post by Sarah is well worth reading and she points out various studies and research in the field.
She finishes her blog post:
Whether or not I can explain how my skin got better, I’m pretty positive that my hypnosis sessions had something to do with it.
Whichever confounding variable was responsible for the clearer skin I saw after my hypnotherapy sessions (stress reduction, better sleep, placebo effect, or all of the above), I’m just thrilled to have seen results at all.
I was finally able to get my racing mind under control with the help of hypnosis. That meant I went from getting maybe two measly hours of sleep a night to a solid eight hours, which is a massive improvement for me. When I’m well-rested during the day, I’m more equipped to handle hectic situations, which means my stress levels are more under control, and I’m pretty sure that’s resulting in a newly clear complexion. My skin still breaks out when I’m frazzled, but it seems a lot happier overall. And so am I.
It is very easy to get wrong impressions about hypnosis. The showmen want to make it all look mystical and unreal.
I have videoed many courses where hypnotherapists were being trained. Many wonderful people with a real desire to help people with annoying behaviours, habits, addictions, pain, self-esteem and so on.
The problem for them especially in their early days is convincing many people out there who have very little knowledge about the therapy.
Ten years ago I was among those who knew very little about hypnosis.
Here are a few facts about hypnosis.
This is a difficult one for clinical hypnotherapists to deal with. The on stage guys are clever and use hypnosis and distraction techniques well.
The people selected to go on stage and take part are actually expecting an outcome. They are more prepared than they believe to respond and play the part.
The thing to realise is that they are willingly being led and are NOT really under the control of the hypnotist.
I personally love Derren Brown who actually calls himself a mentalist and illusionist. That is much better title although other people talk about him being a hypnotist. He often will show at the end of his performance how he has been misleading the audience. He will show video and you can see the clever language that is feeding the imaginations of those being manipulated.
Myths and Mystery and Bad Journalism
Oh dear I don’t know what to say about this one.
There are TV shows and humour “look into my eyes, look into my eyes” and all of that nonsense.
There are journalists who write for a living who are writing err … garbage!!
There are exceptions like Sarah Bar above who is giving a sensible researched article.
Firstly, the Telegraph, which you’d expect to have a more sober perspective on the story carries the headline: ‘Hypnotist thief puts shopkeeper in trance before robbing him’ The hypnosis article can be found here if you’d like to read it. Before I do anything else, let me address the fact that the Telegraph uses the word ‘Trance’ in the title of their article and then assumes that trance and hypnosis are the same thing. They are not.
Hypnotism Is Not A Hypnotist/Hypnotherapist Taking Control
The problem, of course, lies in the way hypnosis is presented again and again by the media, having to explain to clients over and over that hypnosis is something THEY do sometimes feel like a losing battle. Self-Hypnosis is a skill that can be learned by anyone. Yes it is a learned SKILL
To Take Control Issue Further – For My Christian Friends.
I wrote about this a long time ago in 2008 but I won’t send you to that post.
What I will do in fact is update that blog though as there are some new links to add.
Let Me Rant a Bit – Which Is Not My Usual Style …
(you will see that this post is rather sombre for me – but I so want you all to know more about the subject before criticising)
The usual thing is that people think they know about something without having ever studied the subject at all – they simply have an opinion based simply on intuition, gossip or whatever.
Several of my church friends have questioned my interest in what they describe as taking control of someones mind and over somebody’s thinking?
What? … WHAT?
I have videoed and sat through hundreds of hours of clinical hypnotherapy and cognitive bahavioural therapy training – AND it is NOT taking control of the clients mind.
If you think there is exasperation showing – you are right!
Let me bow out.
Really I am wise to leave this to somebody qualified to talk about it.
I am no fool.
Here is a YouTube video – well audio reallywith a ridiculously strange splash screen – about Hypnosis and Christianity. This is a video interview with Rev Dr Scot Giles. This is about his work using hypnosis with cancer patients.
The talk therapies offer help harmlessly. There is a lot of research about the effectiveness of many interventions – for example pain relief. The weakness is that there much more research needed.
So What About Psychiatry?
The very same people that object to hypnosis therapy WILL accept and endorse psychiatrists offering treatments and medication.
From my young nursing days back in the 60’s I had the horror of working with a team giving Electro-Convulsive Therapy (ECT). Notice my strong word horror. I could not believe what I was witnessing. I will say no more about that as it was a long time ago and I may exaggerate.
I was shocked (there’s a pun) when I found out recently that this therapy was in growing use again.
“The figures, obtained through freedom of information requests, show that despite being a crude, controversial treatment, which fell sharply out of favour around the turn of the millennium, ECT is enjoying a revival.
The procedure involves anaesthetising the patient and passing electricity through the brain to induce seizure. Despite ghoulish depictions in popular culture and a marked lack of science explaining how and why it works, treatments can prove effective. Patient stories range fromlife-changing benefits to tales of lives being ruined.”
Hypnotherapists are not wanting to get inside your head and control you. There intention is for their clients to learn the skills of focused imagination and suggesting to themselves the changes they want to make. That is my simple interpretation. Don’t let me tell you though. Better to learn directly from a hypnotherapy practitioner. I can put you in touch with the best.
What If Hypnotherapists Could Get To Control You?
I remember when I first met Adam, the guy who introduced me to hypnotherapy.
He was introducing his business in a breakfast BNI meeting. At each BNI meeting you were allowed 60 seconds to tell a story about your business. A bit like twitter really.
Adam was charismatic and I looked forward to his spot.
One of his minute stories was about hypnotherapists taking control of your mind.
Adam asked us “Why would I be standing up there at 7am to get some new business if I really could use magical hypnosis skills to control somebody? No! Surely I would simply make an appointment with my bank manager and get him to write me out a million pound cheque.
Of Course There Are So Many More Question – Another Day
There are so many other questions.
What does being hypnotised feel like?
Do I go to sleep?
Is it like being in the zone – like sportmen?
I really do want you to find out. So more to follow.
Here I am running two days late with my April blogging challenge.
I won’t go into excuse mode, enough to say yesterday and the day before were those sort of days. Should have stayed in bed.
Anyway – troubles sorted and back on track
I just have to CATCH UP.
It was MY decision to take the challenge. It was by choice and I am doing as much as I can to learn from the process and get my list building through blogging well under way. I want to do this and recognise the advantages.
Also My Son Tom Has A Challenge.
Also my son has been training for the London Marathon which is on 22nd April.
Tom is used to physical activity, surfing and climbing – but running is new and a challenge.
He signed up via a Stroke Charity which puts the pressure on.
He has had to train hard and has followed the regime suggested by the marathon organisers. He ran 22 miles last Sunday. The weather was not good and it would have been easy to let that one slip.
I have to be honest he has not really enjoyed the process – but the challenge and reward of raising the money has worked. I don’t think that he will choose to do it again.l But he will do this one and is aiming to do it in less than four hours.
Let’s Look At Motivation And What Is Going On.
There are three things going on when you undertake a project/challenge.
Activation – the decision to do something
Intensity – the amount of effort that goes into doing it.
Perseverance – How long you can keep up the effort
Achieving your goal requires all of the above.
Types of Motivation:
Arises inside of you. Like solving a puzzle just because you want to. YES – want to
Pros – Easy to maintain concentration. Will do it regardless of reward
Cons Can easily be subject to moods.
Comes from outside – eg solving a problem for money, recognition or praise from peers.
Pros – Easy to manufacture using rewards. Makes difficult tasks bearable.
Cons – Prone to procrastination.
How to Find Motivation
If ONLY it was possible for us to enjoy doing everything with intrinsic motivation.
Unfortunately tasks such as paperwork, chores and study often need willpower and rewards to get done.
If you’re feeling apathetic or keep procrastinating on a task, get MOTIVATED byeliminating the excuses.
Dreams get you started, discipline keeps you going . Jim Rohn
How to get motivated
This stops you from the first step of motivation – starting an activity
1. You’re afraid of Failure
It’s a matter of perspective.
HOW TO FIX IT
Look at all the possible outcomes, including worst-case scenario.
If you fail, will it be really that bad?
If you don’t do the task, what will happen?
Think of the consequences.
This negative outcome should jumpstart you into getting motivated.
2. It’s Too Boring
If you lack the energy to do a task, you’re likely to use your motivation to indulge in something else – like watching TV
HOW TO FIX IT
Focus on the task instead of the time.
By looking at what you need to do, instead of how long it’ll take you, you’ll become more stimulated. With this approach, time should fly as you finish off the activity.
If this isn’t enough, track your progress towards a goal.
Focus on whatever is the smaller of the two: how much you’ve done against how much you have to do.
3. You Just Don’t Feel Like It.
Are you weighed down by an immense feeling of laziness? Then it is time to get organised.
HOW TO FIX IT
You can’t plan your moods, but you can plan your day.
Think about when you are most productive. If it’s early morning or late in the afternoon, then organize your day around this.
If you’re still feeling lazy, try the count down from 10, and start. Once you’re in the zone, you’re more likely to get things done.
4. You Are Too Tired
If you’re struggling to stay awake, then it will be impossible to be motivated.
HOW TO FIX IT
Take care of yourself physically as well as mentally.
Are you stressed out?
Take time to meditate and exercise.
How are your eating and sleeping patterns?
Don’t skip on meals or pull any all-nighters.
Listen to your body, and if you’re still fatigued, visit your doctor
Please feel free to contact me. Simply drop me an email and I will send you a Relaxation and Melt Stress self-hypnosis audio.
5. You Don’t Know Where To Start
Decision fatique affects everyone. The number of choices you make in a day is inversely related to your mental energy.
HOW TO FIX IT
Create A To Do List
Getting started can be the hardest part, but if you can see what needs doing from the get go, you’re onto a good start.
Include not only what you have to do, but what choices you have to make. It’ll help you get your priorities in order and help you manage your brainpower usage.
6. You Have Too Much To Do
How can you put effort into something when you have so many other things to do?
HOW TO FIX IT
Get rid of any unnecessary commitments.
Every commitment you make uses up your finite willpower. Learn to say ‘no’ to things and simply focus on what’s truly important in life.
If it’s the sheer size of a task that’s overwhelming you, then divide and conquer.
Feel good about the small successes.
7. You Don’t See The Point
You’re faced with a mid-task crisis. Why I am doing this, exactly?
HOW TO FIX IT
Be clear on the end goal.
Know what you’re doing and why. If it is something boring or unpleasant, accept it is something you need to do to turn yourself into who you want to be.
Think of the future, successful version of yourself. What would that person do right now.
Willpower if like a muscle. The more you exercise it, the better you will be at using it. So stop reading and start doing.
I joined the blog challenge running through April so that i could learn as much as possible about blogging successfully and grow my mailing list.
So I have been listening to podcasts and visiting blogs to spy on the best blogging craftsmen (oh and of course women).
What are the best practices? What can I learn?
Let me share with you my fellow bloggers – news about a great podcast.
As I have been walking every morning I have got to know a lot about a guy called Brandon Gaille who is a blogging millionaire.
HIs STORY ( and I will write more about that another day ) is incredible and illustrates how we can overcome obstacles with the right attitude.
Two Blogs On Offer Today:
Here I am going to be offering you two blogs – and I am doing this for a reason that I will explain at the end of this posting.
I am going to take you through the headings of a blog by Brandon Gaille. I will leave just a short point from Brandon about the heading and will insert my thoughts.
[my comments will be under KW: and be BLUE and those that I have left from Brandon will be BG and BLACK]
Let’s go ahead and get right into the first habit.
#1 Pro Bloggers Exercise Self-Control Throughout the Day
BG: Three tips
Check email once every three hours
Keep all social media windows closed
Program your phone to only allow calls from spouse and kids
KW: Great tips.
I am taking action right now TODAY. I have had my quick check this morning and answered a couple of urgent e-mails. Most of the e-mails I do not need – I am going further and will be unsubscribing from a few lists. Task written down for later today.
I will leave social media totally alone until all other tasks are completed for today. I will allocate a couple of hours a day to marketing through social media – but that will be planned.
The biggest irritation for me working from home is answering cold calls. Tried several things to get rid of that unsuccessfully. I know when the call is domestic and will put the rest on answer call.
#2 Pro Bloggers Have an Optimistic and Positive Attitude
BG: In order to make it through your first year of blogging, you need to have a firm belief that you are going to be successful.
KW: I can tick a box on this one. Positive attitude when all around are not quite with me. Things do take time but must not get demotivated.
If you can believe, you can achieve.
#3 Pro Bloggers Are Open-Minded
BG: Steven Covey referred to this as sharpening the saw. As a blogger, you need to always be open to learning new techniques and processes that may be better than what you are currently doing now.
Here are a few ways I sharpen my saw…
I Listen to Podcasts
I Sign Up to Online Courses
I Read Blogs
These three practices have guided me down the path of constant and never ending improvement.
KW: Podcasts: Listening to podcasts is my sure fire way of keeping up to date and changing tactics when warranted. I have been putting some of my clients up with podcasts – but never done it myself – something to ponder.
Online Courses: I have joined a membership website NAMS with a treasure trove of help with list building etc. On the side of this post you will see some reports which you can download. Go ahead.
Blogs: What I have enjoyed on the April challenge is to meet my peers who have the same intention. To write a blog is giving away so much information about yourself.
#4 Pro Bloggers Have a Long-Term Plan
BG: As I mentioned earlier… In regards to Google results, the work you do today will reward you six months down the road. Pro bloggers think long term.
They set quarterly, yearly, and five year goals. Here are a couple of questions to help plan for the future.
Where do you want your blog to be a year from now?
What actions do you need to take to achieve each of these goals?
If you do not think you have time for coming up with detailed goals, then take a moment to listen to the results of this study. Harvard surveyed their MBA program graduates as they were graduating. They found that…
84% had no specific goals.
13% had goals but they were not written down.
3% had clear written goals.
The 13% of the class that had goals were making twice as much as the 84% without any goals. The 3% of the class that had taken the time to write down goals were earning ten times as much as all of the other 97% of MBA graduates.
KW: *** This is a lesson for me – the statistics speak – how about you! *** I have left this section in there as written by Brandon. BIG TICK for something I have to do. The MBA story makes that so clear. What are your goals
#5 Pro Bloggers Take Calculated Risks
KW: Wow – I have been so ready to take risks and have done that so often.
I have so many stories to tell about this one.
Not always brilliant results but oh how my life changed every time.
Some risky moves turned out to be unexpected and led to terrific changes in domestic life. For example we went full time sailing, had an accident and sank the boat – then spent several years working out in the Middle East helping commission a new hospital in Muscat, Oman. The stories of the expat life and the people we now know around the world are the legacy of that accident.
You know now I hope that visiting my blog will give you a heap of stories.
“If you want something you’ve never had, you must be willing to do something you’ve never done.”
This is a constant reminder to me that I need to continue trying new things in business and in life.
#6 Pro Bloggers Simplify Their Processes
BG: Bruce Lee once said…
“It is not the daily increase, but a daily decrease. Hack away at the inessentials.”
KW: This joins my BIG TICK Box and will become one of my first goals.
I am far too complicated when I think ahead.
I see the overall strategy and work too fast in trying to get to the end point – instead of breaking it down and making the simple building blocks which are well crafted and work well.
#7 Pro Bloggers Embrace and Learn from Discomfort
BG: We are all going to face obstacles in business and life. Embrace them, learn from them, and keep moving forward.
KW: I mentioned above what a hard time Brandon worked through.
I had to learn just how to deal with a major sickness obstacle.
Through all of my nursing career I didn’t have a singe day of sick.
So you can imagine what a surprise it was when I went through a sickness spell.
About five years ago at home emptying the dish washer I began to feel unwell. It was a heart attack and I had a stent put in.
A year later – blood in my urine which was cancer of kidney – so I had a kidney removed.
A year after that on Boxing day with a house full of family I had a stroke – total loss of function one side and loss of speech – the works. My wife is a nurse and got me to hospital quick. Great fast treatment and I was talking and walking again next day.
The most important thing I noticed during my nursing days was that patients with a positive attitude recovered and got over the illness quickly. That is totally my approach.
#8 Pro Bloggers Never Give Up in the Face of Struggle
KW: You can see what Brandon has to say in his blog post.
In my case I just wanted to get back to normal life as soon as able. I had computer on my bed – some of my e-mails were sent out with some grammatical errors – I know because i was told so.
The sickness did give me problems running a business – but my business partner was terrific with a very positive and helpful support. In fact that business partner is Adam Eason who is the hypnotherapist that you will hear me talking about regularly. Also my family were the best including my son Tom ( he learned how to set up WordPress websites etc to help me out with some of my client work )
What ever I want to do – I will never let anything get in my way.
#9 Pro Bloggers Spend Time with the Right People
BG: Reach out to other bloggers and share ideas. This can be through a Facebook group, a MeetUp, or a conference.
KW: Oh how important is this advice.
In my eyes this blog post is aimed at the group of people who are doing the April Challenge which is on Paul Taubman’s facebook page. What a great group of people to get feedback from. I have already got some great feedback from members of this challenge group.
The place I came across Paul where he was being interviewed by David Perdew in NAMS. I am an insider there and what a great place to get the support and meet with the RIGHT PEOPLE.
It means you are never working in isolation.
Do click on any of the products on the right hand side and in any of those you will find a link to NAMS.
#10 Pro Bloggers Show Appreciation and Gratitude for What they Have
BG: Here’s another great quote from Zig Ziglar that really sums up the importance of gratitude…
“Gratitude is the healthiest of all human emotions. The more you express gratitude for what you have, the more likely you will have even more to express gratitude for.”
Whether you are religious or just spiritual, it is important to show gratitude for everything that you have at the beginning and end of each day.
KW: I have my faith which is the most wonderful thing that I have and I am probably not good enough at it BUT I know where my thanks are due.
You will not hear me talk about this at all – simply because I am not the one who knows the answers. There are other people much better informed than me.
#11 Pro Bloggers Accept and Embrace Change
KW: I heard this somewhere on a podcast. (can’t remember which one) “The only thing that is consistent is change” – Quote Heraclitus
I have been trying to keep up with the changes on the Internet since I put up my first website in 1994.
#12 Pro Bloggers Have a Great Work Life Balance
BG: I make a point to spend every evening and weekend having fun with my wife and two boys. Without them, it would all be for nothing.
KW: For the last seven years I have had a motorhome and whenever my wife Babs was on leave we were able to go away. I had the motorhome fitted out with everything so that I could do some work, some play in totally different locations. We were touring Spain and I was able to run my business a couple of hours max a day.
I have retired now but am really excited about starting a problogger business. In fact I am excited about that and will still have the travelling, social approach. Hopefully make an extra bob or two.
#13 Pro Bloggers Want Other Bloggers to Succeed
BG: I have been fortunate to be part of several great mastermind groups over the past two decades. In each of these mastermind groups, we all sincerely wanted eachother to reach greater levels of success. If I know a blogger that just tripled his revenue, then I am going to be able to learn from him and apply it to my blog. Success breeds success.
KW: This is a really important part for my new retirement business project.
I have not mentioned my products this week because we are not supposed to advertise within the challenge blogs.
So a subtle mention that I have an affiliate programme that I hope will be of interest to some of the bloggers that read this post.
Certainly get in touch with me if you are interested – so that we can get to know each other.
#14 Pro Bloggers Have a Definite Purpose Behind What They Do
BG: When I set out to start my blog, I asked myself…
Why do I want to have a successful blog?
At the time, I was having success with my boutique marketing services firm, but I wanted to be able to reach more people beyond just my clients. Over the past three years, my posts have been read by millions. My about page, which is 5000 word bio of my comeback story, has been read by over 100,000 people in last year. I get several emails each day from readers who are inspired by my journey to find success again.
KW: I have worked with health issues most of my adult life – both physical health where I was hospital nursing and mental health the last ten years with talk therapies.
What fascinates most is the link between the mind and physical problems.
I want to really promote the mind talk therapies and prevention techniques.
I want to kill all the false myths and misunderstandings about hypnosis and raise awareness of the power of the brain to influence change.
#15 Pro Bloggers Share Graciously With Others
BG: Every once in awhile I get asked…
Why do share your secrets with everyone?
I am big believer in the law of abundance. This is the simple fact that there is an unlimited source of everything that we need or could ever want. The more I share, the more I get back.
My podcast and blog posts allow me to form relationships with people that will eventually become customers of my course and clients for marketing services. If I was afraid to share my secrets, then I would have very little to share.
KW: I will leave you with Brandon’s words. My thoughts exactly.
#16 Pro Bloggers Accept Responsibility for Their Actions
BW: At some point, you are going to make a mistake on one of your blog posts. Every once in awhile, no matter how thorough I am, a blog post of mine will leave something important out. About twice a month, I get an email from a reader who lets me know I did not do a great job of representing a specific topic.
I could stand my ground and let them know why I am right, or I could ask them how I could make the post better. I choose the later. I even go as far as offering them the chance to write a few paragraphs for me, which many end up doing.
The end result is a better post and having a new raving fan for life.
KW: My wife is a Health Visitor and she goes to loads of training. She returned from one course with a No Blame poster that she put up on the wall in the kitchen. It was our no blame area.
I am pretty good on this one – I think!
I have found whenever I admit my mistakes it has worked out well. If I ever have an issue with product delivery online I will make a point of sending more than necessary to compensate. I have a grateful customer and usually a long relationship.
#17 Pro Bloggers Never Make Excuses
BG: When you run your own blog, the buck stops with you. Most pro bloggers start out blogging while they are working a full time job or raising a large handful of kids. With all of this going on, it is real easy to make the excuse of not having time to get around to posting on a consistent basis.
Always remember what Ben Franklin once said…
“He that is good for making excuses is seldom good for anything else.”
KW: No Excuses – I am where I am and the way I got here was down to me alone. i am with great people and again that is choice and decisions. You are probably a person I should know – who knows. Life is a wonderful journey but it is down to us what we make of it.
Finale by Brandon
The strategies and techniques may change from year to year, but these 17 success habits are timeless. Make them part of who you are and you will be destined to go further than you could possibly imagine.
Now here is the bit that I don’t understand yet. If you go and look at Brandon’s complete blog – it is really great – with images and so on.
However the whole blog post was based upon a slideshow. Brandon doesn’t hide that fact and you can see that in his finale.
So I am wondering whether what I have done is correct? I thought Brandon’s blog was so good that I would comment on it in my blog. No hiding the fact and here is the blog post – https://brandongaille.com/17-success-habits-of-pro-bloggers/
That is the address to go and see Brandon’s blog. There are so many things I need to put in place to have my blogs working for me and finding me new mail clients.
There has been a lot of reporting today here in the UK all about a new sugar tax. It is on drinks that have a high level of sugar in them. For example a litre of Coca Cola will cost 24p (approx 30 cents).
Caroline Cerny from the Obesity Health Alliance of charities says that says “This alone won’t be enough to tackle rising obesity levels and that we need the government to take further action.
The reason for her comments is because of the alarming figures from our NHS. (This is all there data so of course this is UK related but please add comments below about your countries.)
Twice as many patients are admitted to hospital with problems related to obesity as four years ago.
Stop – and look at that again. What a rapid rate of change.
In 2016-17 about 617.000 hospital admissions were caused at least in part by obesity, up 18% in a year and NINE times higher than a decade ago.
STOP again. I am just ramming those figures in. They are shocking.
A total of 10.705 admissions were primarily the result of obesity, about two thirds of them for weight loss surgery. This is up from 3,800 a decade ago. The rest of the admissions were for conditions that obesity makes worse such as joint problems and heart attacks.
Obesity has been an issue for me – well since I was forty
I was looking this morning for a picture of me just before I was forty playing table tennis. I was on holiday and wearing only my shorts. I couldn’t find the picture unfortunately – (you are probably disappointed).
Up until that age I had no weight issue at all.
Suddenly An Issue
Then bang!! I put on weight.
I went through that period (well quite a few years) where I would use some latest faddy diet, lose weight and go through the yo-yo process over and over again.
I am currently about 12 stone but I got up to regularly 15 stone.
Here’s an old belt that shows the battle.
Here’s a picture that has been added to a wall in our home. I did not choose this picture and the detailed image below will show you why.
Here is the reason I would like this picture removed.
I was NOT happy with constant and continual up down of battling with this problem.
Diets were not the answer.
This photo is about eight years old.
I Was Fedup With My Weight – What Would Be Permanent?
At that time I was learning about hypnosis by working together with Adam Eason producing audios and videos about hypnotherapeutic techniques. Adam had in fact done a lot of face to face work as well as his producing his self-hypnosis products.
Not hard for me then to get to work on my weight problem.
The programme I used at the time was called ‘Think Yourself Thin’ and I set about using this set of audio products.
There were hypnosis sessions within the package but alongside that there were narrative files, workbooks etc.
I analysed everything and the situation was this.
There is one irrefutable fact – The amount of food / drinks / cals put into your body is measurable and if you put in more than your body needs to function for the physical you will put on weight.
Straight forward maths. NO use arguing – that is a fact.
I wrote a blog about boxer Anthony Joshua and I read last week about his diet. He consumes about 10,000 cals a day simply because he needs that much for the physical activity of boxing training.
Relate this to a car. The fuel tank is filled with petrol. Drive the car fast, crashing through the gears fast, and braking last minute and guess what the fuel runs out fast. Drive steadily and braking softly and the fuel will go further.
When I began to work through my eating issues and really wanted to find a solution – everything became obvious.
My Bad Behaviours Were:
Eating quickly – often when working and not stopping for the meal
Always eating everything and never leaving anything on my plate
If there was a seconds available – having them
Eating too many snacks between meals that were high in calories.
Drinking wine regularly during the week.
Bad behaviours are learned behaviours.
My worked out solution – ongoing.
So my formula was ok on one side – I was exercising a reasonable amount – but not enough to use all of the calories coming in.
I had to learn new behaviours and get them set – into a new mindset.
The solution was not with the food I was eating. That was actually ok apart from the amount of alcohol.
Here are the solutions that were right for me.
Eat slowly – you actually enjoy the tasting of the food longer AND you recognise faster that you are full
Learning to listen to my body – I realised when analysing things that I hated the feeling of being overfull. Avoid that.
Reduced size portions – that fits with the eating slowly. It takes longer to eat and you don’t feel as if it is a smaller amount
Leave food on the plate – and definitely not second portions.
In may case drinking only Friday evening till Sunday evening.
Avoid snacking between meals. Not hard when your mindset is reset.
Hypnosis sessions were all around getting this new mindset to make all of those behaviour changes. Hypnosis is focused imagination. You see yourself with a new approach. Quite simply it works.
Within a few days I was not even thinking about going to the fridge for a snack and so on.
I have really not changed anything in my diet. I am simply eating less and don’t even realise it.
Some eight years now in a controlled way.
What about you? You are the person that can change You – Your call.
This dear land of mine – Britain – this country came 19th in the new World Happiness Report. That’s about right. Any higher and we might have been embarrassed.
We here in Britain may hold the key to long-term happiness, according to Dr Seligman.
Now come on Doc.
He goes on… Our resilience in adversity suggests that, despite apperances, we are optimists.
More about that below.
Positive Psychology Father
So who is this guy?
Dr Martin Seligman is the father of Positive Psychology.
In 1998 when he was made president of the American Psychological Association (APA) he declared that psychologists needed to study what made happy people happy.
He noted “The most important thing, the most general thing I learned, was that psychology was half-baked, literally half-baked. We had baked the part about mental illness […] The other side’s unbaked, the side of strength, the side of what we’re good at.”
Studies since then by Seligman and other psychologists have explored the effects of positive emotions and the ways they affect health, performance and overall life satisfaction.
When Cameron Was Around:
Whitehall statisticians began happiness surveys on the instigation of former prime minister David Cameron in 2011, as he looked for other measures besides GDP to measure how the country was doing.
Why, Cameron asked, was Britain, like the rest of the developed world, so obsessed with Gross Domestic Product (GDP)? What did this cold, clinical measure of industrial output have to do with how happy or fulfilled anyone actually felt at any given time?
Why not measure GWB (General Well Being) instead? He argued that, surely, that was more important to people.
Now Look at This – Subjectivity and Culture
These surveys depend on subjective self-reporting, not to mention eliding cultural differences.
In Japan there is a cultural bias against boasting of one’s good fortune, and in East Asia the most common response, by far, is to report one’s happiness as average.
In Scandinavia, meanwhile, there is immense societal pressure to tell everyone how happy you are, right up to the moment when you’re sticking your head in the oven.
Finland, Norway, Denmark and Iceland – in the top spots, suggesting that happiness is strongly correlated to having really good underfloor heating.
The United States ranked 14th in the report. Comments please you guys – you are ahead of the UK
The UK came in 19th, just above Chile, a poor performance until you factor in the possibility that Britons would have been ashamed to finish any higher – that breaking seven on a one to 10 overall happiness scale would be crowing. A 6.714 will do, thank you.
Carol Midgley wrote about this in the Times
The British Method For Being Happy – Keep Calm and Expect The Worse.
She says and I totally agree:
We have an inbuilt guard against unhappiness and it comprises three elements: 1)never saying what we mean. 2)never engaging in social confrontation 3)dourly expecting everything to be crap so that when it is you are never disappointed.
Brits hide their secret optimism via language namely in understatement.
“Mustn’t grumble” – means they are elated “I’ve been worse, I suppose”, they are at death’s door. Experience “not bad” we mean it is very good. Meal “disappointing”, it’s quite possible three of the party died in agony from food poisoning.
Yes there is a British form of optimism: hope for the best and prepare for the worst.
Off to the pub for a therapeutic beer with my mates – now that is happiness.
Dan Gilbert – TED Talk – The Surprising Science Of Happiness
You need 22 minutes to watch this – but it is a great TED talk from 2004. Dan wrote the book Stumbling on Happiness. He argues that us human beings are forever wrong about predicting what will make us happy.
Well I have been for my half hour walk and thought through today’s blog listening to a podcast.
I finished my blog yesterday with brief comment about writing your blog to one person. Copy write training is also always talking about this talking to a specific person BUT…
I Find This Hard to do With Hypnosis Products.
Let me explain
If you look around this website you will see that I deal with self-hypnosis audios and videos. I have an online store called Hypnosis For Download. I also have a hypnosis for streaming membership full of all of the audios and videos.
My main interest is a new membership website which is my main focus. The membership site offers training, scientifically researched techniques and so on by Adam Eason author of a book ‘The Science Of Self-Hypnosis’
How DO we get to Promote Hypnosis Products
How to market and identify people when THEY are ready is the conundrum. I can’t make a landing page for every situation and write copy that will meet all of the needs of the shopper.
In fact my marketing approach is to leave the hypnosis for download website in place with well over 200 products.
So it is like having 200 landing pages.
The shop is a lead magnet.
This morning there was a person who had bought a product for Insomnia.
I will in fact offer her more than she thought.
I will give her access to a three day use of our Hypnosis For Streaming membership resource, so she can see the scientific research, education and demystifying resources audios and videos.
Into our funnel she goes to educate and help.
A VIP – as she has bought already.
I want to offer her valuable service which enhances her original purchase.
That is Fine BUT…
Most people would not start at the store though or even think of hypnosis necessarily as a solution.
Take This Example About Raynauds
This is really crying out for a blog post to be written about it – the important thing to offer at the bottom of the blog would be a free copy of melt stress and also three day access to our membership website…
Now I was listening to a radio programme this morning where a lady was talking about having Raynouds Disease.
In fact far from talking – she was describing the pain in a very emotional heartfelt way and was describing how hard it was to button up her coat or get her gloves on.
Now she is not alone, there are 10 million sufferers in the UK – I have just looked on the NHS (our health service in the UK)
Raynaud’s phenomenon is common and doesn’t usually cause any severe problems. … Raynaud’s affects your blood circulation. When you’re cold, anxious or stressed, your fingers and toes may change colour.
Now the lady on the radio was saying that her Raynauds flared up and was worse when she felt stressed or anxious.
What am I thinking when I hear stories like this? I just wanted to send her Melt Stress – one of our audios.
Now I could really tell that story in a lot of detail and hopefully include an audio recording from the programme where she is describing the pain
People Come To Hypnosis in a Variety of Ways.
Adam Eason – the Hypnotherapist I have been working with developing his College of Hypnosis business became a hypnotherapist because he found hypnosis to be a cure for his psoriasis.
All other medications and treatments had failed and he was desperate for a solution. Adam was shocked when he followed a recommendation to go to a hypnotherapist and that the hypnosis worked within a few days. On from there to where he is today a leading authority and author on the subject.
I Wish I Had Learned All About Hypnosis While I Was Nursing
Before I met Adam in 2005 – I had no idea about the hypnosis, cognitive behavioural therapy, NLP and other talk therapies.
As I worked alongside Adam filming his courses and producing his audios and videos I took it all on board.
Not in an academic way – NO – I USED the self-hypnosis audios and techniques.
For instance: I used to sweat profusely before speaking publicly and now that is a thing of the past. Now this was a real problem as I was often teaching in a Nursing School. In the Middle East I used to wear a jacket simply because i wanted to hide my perspiration. That looked weird in that climate. But there you go – what we will do to overcome something that was just a mental issue. Since hypnosis therapy – that has gone – a thing of the past.
I used “Think Yourself Thin” to get my fat belly in check. The stories I could tell you about my weight. Sounds like another blog to me leave it there today..
What Are Potential Customers Perceptions Of Hypnosis
The point I am struggling to make is that everybody is in a different place all of the time and with different perceptions about hypnosis.
In fact there is an education necessary in so many potential clients.
I know a lot of Hypnotherapists who have been well trained – But they have to win confidence to get going.
We will explore the perceptions and oh YES the misconceptions of mental therapies another day.
I am Going to Let You Into a Secret.
The best people to provide that education are other users.
But my main target are happy customers and hypnosis users who want to become affiliates. They can tell the true worth of these mind therapies.
Something Different Tomorrow
We will have a bit more fun tomorrow. With something off of the wall. Why not!
I don’t know what at the moment but I will decide in my 30 minute walk in the morning.
I realised that this blog challenge was going to take up some time this month and had decided that I would give myself two hours daily to do each blog.
Well that set the family off – bless them!
They already think I spend far too long at the computer and frequently tell me so.
My wife is a health visitor and claims she is always climbing stairs and walking;
My son is a surfer, climber type who is really fit and is running his first marathon in London later this month;
My daughter has videos on You Tube lifting weights, kick boxing, and goodness knows what else in the gym (did she mention kettles?).
So you probably get the picture – here is the old man who has had some heart issues spending another two hours online writing daily blogs.
Well I know they care and mean well AND I also know they are right.
The Secret to Keep Everyone Happy – Podcasts On The Go
So my daughter ( who has the ability always to do twenty five things at once ) has made me promise that I will go for a fast half hour walk WHILE listening to my podcasts for content and ideas etc.
That is what I will do.
Challenge after Challenge.
The next thing I need to sort out is how I take notes as I am listening to podcasts while walking. I need some voice recording software which can kick in and stop the podcast playing while I make a recorded voice note. It would be even better if the recorded voice message was automatically converted into text.
There you are software developers. Your comments please.
STILL – Two and Half Hours Per Blog is Not Long
Having said all of that – two and half hours is not long to efficiently do a blog.
It is alright for a personal narrative like this post.
But for news subjects: finding your facts research, picture locating, headline creation, structuring, SEO keywords – and of course writing all takes time.
So need to get nifty and efficient. I am on a learning curve and want to get really sharp with good processes in place.
So What Now?
It is day three and I am realising the importance of this challenge and just what I am learning already.
I have blogged for many years on and off but it was done with NO real urgency.
Sometimes a post would be in preparation for some time as if it was being marinated.
I know I get quite scared about putting things out –
Will there be grammatical errors? – YES – inevitable.
Will every sentence make sense? NO
Will I upset anyone? Inevitable.
Do I want comments? – YES – BUT
With this daily challenge assignment approach I have had to begin to act and think like a journalist, and quickly source the facts and story-line.
One of the things I am now doing is reading newspaper and magazine articles carefully. Reading less – but reading with more purpose
What a great thing to do.
It is enjoyable and you can see the writers craft and use of language.
Giving myself a limited time though means that I have to be very specific with the topic size.
However – By writing daily you give yourself the chance to pick up a subject again and develop a theme.
AND I Will Do That Today,
I have a BIG question that I will make the subject of tomorrow’s blog.
The issue is all about writing to a particular person in your writing.
For example: I am assuming for instance that the majority of the people reading this message will be other blog posters taking the challenge.
My question tomorrow will be about promoting something much more generic than any individual item.
To be writing about watching a boxing match is odd and will probably never happen again.
In quite strange circumstances I finished up watching the Joshua / Parker fight on Saturday evening.
That was the first time for 32 years that I have watched a boxing match live.
In fact I can be precise – the last boxing match I watched was on 8th of June 1985.
How do I know that?
Well it was my wedding day and there was a massive fight for the featherweight crown. Barry McGuigan from Ireland beat the Panamanian Eusebio Pedroza.
I knew that several of the men attending our wedding were keen to see the bout and with a little bit of subterfuge we got our go ahead pass from the ladies – our loved ones – bless them. In fact – I thoroughly enjoyed that fight – the event the razzmatazz and the occassion.
I have never however bothered with boxing ever since – certainly not to watch live.
So why this one?
Well it was an opportune moment.
I have to get you into the story by setting the scene.
My adult kids were home for Easter weekend and we Watsons were invited around to our friends the MacKenzies (also two adult boys) for dinner. So along with a fiance of one of the Mackenzie boys we had a chance to catch up with everything since we were last all together.
Now in an early chat during the evening with Murdo MacKenzie (guess where he comes from) I found out that he had paid £19 (= $25) for televised live event of a boxing match between our boy Anthony Joshua and New Zealander Joseph Parker.
Hmm – I was interested – I wanted to stay to see this event – which was due to start about 10:30 pm. I was the designated driver and had only drunk 0.5% beer (yes you read that right – Nanny State brew 0.5% and it tastes good) So I thought I was in a good position to get to see the fight.
Now I had been reading about the match all week as this was a big event pulling together some of the belts – don’t ask me any details – but they all had silly 3 letter titles IBF, WBO, IBO and WBA – this was some sort of unification battle and after that there was another one to chase currently held by somebody called Deontay Wilder.
I should have linked all of the last paragraph to wikipedia links.
The statistics were impressive and this was a showdown – Joshua and Parker had never lost a fight. They were both getting into the ring as winners. One of them had to lose.
Look at this –
Joshua: Fights 20, Won 20, Knockouts 20 Parker: Fights 24, Won 24, Knockout 18
There was a slight problem for me getting to watch this though – would the family want to leave before the bout. My son Tom was asking good questions and appeared to be interested – but there was Babs and Zoe!
The TV went on and my wife began to talk about leaving to go home.
The Cardiff arena was packed with 80,000 fans and the atmosphere was electric. I can really get into any event and my desire to see the event was growing. However Babs was looking at me with some horror. She didn’t have to say anything – her face was asking the questions. You never watch boxing?
My son Tom was showing some interest at that stage but my daughter was not and was on Babs side.
Murdo’s wife came to rescue for me as she offered drinks and to my delight the youngsters responded as youngsters do.
The Televised Event
So there we were – with such a mixed bag of expectations and the conversation was hilarious. Just like watching Goggle box.
You have to be aware that the conversations were wine fueled. (Except for me on my Nanny State beer).
My wife Babs W pointed out that she had never in her sixty odd years ever watched a boxing match. Or even wanted to.
Babs W: “How long does this go on?” Callum M: 12 rounds Babs W: “How long is a round?” Callum M (with tongue in cheek told a porky): “Seven and half minutes a round and a minute between each round” Babs W: “You what!!” I could see her calculating. 90 Minutes plus 12.
My position was precarious – I just had to cut in and tell her that it was really 3 minutes for each round.
Another conversation going on was about the pay. In fact I began working out the hourly rate of pay. Because Joshua has knocked out all of his opponents he has only boxed 65 rounds in his professional career in his 20 fights. He has earned approximately £50 million pounds for those 65 rounds ( about three hours of actual boxing in his career) Oh and by the way he got another £18 million pound to add to that on Saturday.
To be fair – Babs SORT of got into it. She came to the conclusion that Joshua would wait until round 10 – this was to make sure that the crowd got their moneys worth and then Parker would be dropped to the canvas. She then went to sleep. We decided to wake her up at round 10.
Babs was not alone sleeping.
Callum W’s fiancee who had wrapped herself in a blanket and snoozed from the word go.
On the other hand Zoe W really GOT into it. She was wanting to know why Joshua hadn’t knocked out Parker and was living with every punch. Murdo said that she would have been at home in Roman times when the gladiators took on the tigers.
So how about Murdo – after all he was the one that had paid for it all. I have to report, he was not happy, and was convinced the referee had a wager on the fight going the full distance. The fight seemed to be broken up everytime it was about to ignite. The papers the next day were full of criticism for the referee and the way he kept stepping in too early. Typical headline – Referee intoxicated by power – like a nightclub bouncer.
Simple answer – let Zoe W referee next time – she will let them go for each other.
Our man won. The next battle for him it is hoped is this Wilder guy. I wonder if I will see that fight.
Well it is Easter Day AND April fools day AND I have just been to a great church service with family AND had a beer at the pub AND it’s the day after I stayed up late to watch a boxing match.
Is that going to stop me sitting down and writing a blog.
There is a blog challenge and if the challenge is there it will happen. The great thing about a challenge is the power of make a commitment and keeping to it.
Keeping Blogging Going is Hard!
I wonder how many times I have written these or similar words. “Well as you can see i have not written a blog post for the last ??? however many months – but here is another go” – “from now on I will do better and so on.”
This time is different – I am telling you here and now – I will be writing a blog a day for the next 30/31 days. **(I will explain about the 30/31 issue in a moment)
Hopefully by then my hypnotherapist friend Adam Eason would be telling me that the habit will have set it. So you MAY get more.
The reason is that I am on a challenge – The Ultimate Blog Challenge – run by Paul Taubman. The challenge was pointed out to me by my marketing guy at NAMS.
Now I put myself in danger of being kicked off of the challenge on day one by accusing Paul of misleading us all. Where did Paul find thirty one days in April?
I thought I was going to write 30 posts but his e-mail to all challenge takers today clearly states 31 posts. (I wonder if it is an April Fools joke?)
Anyway back to the challenge. What a great way to kick me into real action.
NEW PERSONAL BRANDING
I need – yes NEED to do it regularly because a) I have to develop my own brand because I am working on my own now. I have lots of objectives – I was seventy on my last birthday – but that is kick off time for a new project.
Let me frame all of this:
For the last decade I have been the behind the scenes man and working with a guy who was developing his brand. His name: Adam Eason – Hypnotherapist, Author, Tutor and developing his college of hypnosis etc.
All of the work, the mailing list, blogs, newsletters and social media were developing a mailing list aimed at hypnotherapy.
I was involved with developing his audios and videos.
My background before meeting Adam was a 25 years nursing career.
All I can say briefly on Easter Sunday is that I have painted there a feeble quick background – don’t worry! There are at least 30/31 days to find out more.
MY NEW PROJECT
I have retired from that work with Adam Eason and really am setting about later day years with a set of clear objectives:
NOT retire completely – but do something I really love
Earn money – but in a more relaxed way – passive income ideal
I want to travel and work – motorhome enthusiast
Help and support my kids and their families
Keep total life balance
Help charities and church missions – there is so much poverty and need out there.
MY PERSONAL WATS-ON BRAND
Now I have started a retirement project where it is me who is the brand.
I have even set up this blogging website with a ME BRANDING name. Wats-On.net
The subtitle if “Wats-On my Mind”.
So there it is – I need to develop a new mailing list – so the marketers tell me – and GUESS WHAT! An active blog full of great content (hmm yuck will have to work on that one after today)
My blog will be about people – the more charismatic the better. Not surprisingly it will be health/mind/psychology related. Most of all I want to enjoy writing it and having fun and most of all getting feedback from you dear reader.
You can if you wish join me daily. There is an invitation you lucky person.
An E-Mail I Opened Was All About The Ultimate Blog Challenge.
I may not have read this message a couple of days ago when I was swamped to overflowing with e-mails. It was down to my new filtering that this was noticed. It was from one of my Favs!
What about you – how good is your filtering of e-mails.
How many e-mails do you get in your inbox in the morning?
How many are important and need your attention?
I have actually been trying to get some control over this by unsubscribing from regular messages from people who’s names are familiar. The reason that I know the names so well is because I see them daily.
BUT are they e-mails I actually read. NO! In fact I haven’t a clue in many cases what is the speciality and focus of this ‘NAME’.
I need to get a grip I thought and the pruning has begun – (well it is springtime).
Love them or Chuck them. So I have been opening to read and then to make a decision. IN or OUT!
The good guys and gals are getting promoted into their own file and the rest – well kicked out.
So a number of ‘NAMES’ are disappearing but something ELSE has happened. I discovered that the best e-mailers with interesting content also had good blogs. VERY good blogs! Most of the juicy e-mails with riveting titles link off to blogs that rock!
THIS MORNING A MESSAGE CAUGHT MY EYE
One guy in the ‘YES – MUST BE READ’ file is David Perdew and he prompted me into action.
He was writing about a Blog Challenge that is going to be run in April.
Here is a bit of David’s Message:
“Hey, I’ve never done Paul Taubman’s Ultimate Blog Challenge, although I’ve always wanted to. It’s a pretty awesome idea. 30 blog posts in 30 days… So, I’ve signed up for the April challenge (just because I thought I might have a free 15 minutes). Actually, this is one of those things I think I’ll make time for. Blogging has been really good for us. We just need to do more of it.”
I went over to my blog and – shock horror – the latest post there had ‘January in the title’. Now – here in the UK we put our clocks forward this weekend. What is happening to time and my new year intentions?
Like David – I actually know how important blogs have been for me in the past and I am letting it slip again.
There is nothing like a challenge to get you motivated again and commit to action – especially if there are other people involved.
I have heard Paul Taubman talk in a couple of webinars and I didn’t hang around. I know the blog challenge will be promoted and supported and that there will be mutual benefits for all taking part.
I signed up.
The welcome e-mail had a link to a conversation ‘Why You Need a Blog’ by Michele Scism who started the blog challenge some years ago and Danni Ackerman and Paul Taubman who have joined her to present the quarterly events.
So here it is – my first blog since January – inviting you to check out this challenge.
Come on Derek, Graham, Steve, Adam, Sue, Lucy, Uncle Tom Cobley and All. Why not join me? A blog a day during April.
So you know where to come in April to see me daily. I will be delighted to welcome you.
Emotions In January Has Affected Our Marketing In the Past
Since I have been involved with Adam Eason putting together self-hypnosis products I have noticed many things that have affected our marketing in January. I have to admit that I have always thought that marketing in January is different.
In fact January is such a STRANGE month that I have waited till the last week to set the promotion going for our new Membership area – Hypnosis For Streaming
So what is it with January
When planning this blog post I was looking for some quotes about January but instead came across a great blog from Halfords the bike company called ‘The Five Emotions Of January’.
Brief summary of Halfords Blog:
Ahhh January. You’re certainly not our most loved month. Reflecting on a good old knees up over the festive season brings a smile to your face, but then the crashing reality of getting back to work and tackling those new goals sets in. But alas! We are all riding the rollercoaster together, so buckle up and revel in the fact that you are not alone…
The emotions highlighted in the blog were:
Week 1 Motivation – I will do etc
Week 2 Mourning (no money, diets yuck, exercise etc)
Week 3 Realisation (over thinking – I don’t get this)
This Year I Have Been Busy In January – Not Marketing The Usual Products…
Every year we run tweets and adverts about all the things you people out there want to achieve in the coming year. We know we have tools that can help make those things happen.
What does the New Year resolutions list look like? (Without looking I am sure you can guess.)
Improve Health – especially stopping any addictions, smoking, excess alcohol and so on
Control weight and look good on the beach this summer
Be motivated seek new opportunities for sucess
The problem is that although January comes in with a flash, bang, lets party!!
Then what happens – how does January work out?
Pretty murky outlook really: (some of this only applies to the northern hemisphere – but Australia has been rather hot)
The days are short – dark
The weather – well so no more
The papers are full of Blue Monday – the most depressing day of the year – credit card bills are hitting the doormat
No money until the end of the month
Flu and colds
Long waits in hospitals
Conclusion – What hope for our New Years Resolutions – might as well hit the bottle [a note here – I am only kidding].
My Marketing – Actually Not in Existence – Has Been Different This Year
This year I have had a different approach though. Forced upon me because I had other objectives.
I have been setting up a new approach to getting the Hypnosis For Download products out in a different way. The Hypnosis For Download online store and downloading of files will continue BUT most people will find this streaming approach easier and flexible.
The strategy is to make self-hypnosis products available from a membership area.
Hypnosis For Streaming Membership
Membership Option – Here is the logic / thinking / give it a go / honest reasons for the changes
[Here It Is In a Nutshell]
**We have a large number of products in the Hypnosis for Download website – a large resource / library of self help products. ** Members will be able to select a large range of combination of products that meet their specific needs. **Videos about self-hypnosis skills and other psychological techniques available to all members **Also we want to encourage members to invite others to join AND reward them for doing that. **Personal, **Secure, **High Value, **Supportive Service **Online Income **THAT’s THE AIM
More About the Membership Option
1. Make the Products Easily Available – I know – in fact I ABSOLUTELY know – that the Self-Hypnosis products we have can help so many of those New Year Resolutions. Easier. Faster. Permanently. By making the products available from any device using your login details your access is flexible, secure, mobile and private.
2. Teach How To Use:- Some of the videos and audios in the membership website are aimed at showing you all about self-hypnosis and other psychological skills. These are products that in the past were expensive to purchase and download. In the membership area they will be available to all members and help improve the use and effectiveness of the self-hypnosis products.
3. Personal Selection:- Members will be able to select and choose any combination of the library of self-hypnosis choices. Mix and Match hypnosis.!!
4. Ease of Access:– Having run the support desk for Hypnosis For Download, I can tell you first hand, that people have problems with large products and downloads and lose the files or computers crash with everything lost etc etc !!!! . SO … What we are doing now is putting digital products into secure storage areas and delivering them directly over the internet. Streamed delivery to any laptop, tablet, mobile phone using login details. Available anywhere in the world (as long as phone network or wifi etc.) The whole process will be simpler and cheaper to deliver when everything is in place.
5. Personal and Avoiding Embarrassment:- You may not think this is a big one, but it is. If you have an addiction or sexual issue that you want to overcome, and you know there are products out there to help you – it takes courage to actually order them. In the members area, all products of a personal nature are available to you. Nobody knows what self-hypnosis sessions you are using. They are available to all members.
6. Incredible Value:- We want people to be using these great products created by our Hypnotherapists. We are a business though and keen to make a living and what I really want to achieve is extensive delivery so that low cost is not an issue. We have to do the maths. All members joining now will definitely get the best deal. £7.50 per month.
7. Exclusive Affiliate Links:- The best marketing for any busy is word of mouth. There is a great opportunity for members to refer and the reward is great. You will get 50% commissions for members you refer. Your turn to do the maths. Two new referred members and you will have free membership as your monthly payment will be equal to your commissions. More members you have a monthly income.
8. Further Opportunities:- Not going into this just now but members who are interested in increasing affiliate income we will be talking to you.
9. Products For Non Members:– We will keep the Hypnosis For Download store open with the abilility to download products if that is what you prefer to do. BUT We have already started offering individual self-hypnosis session as streamed products using links the members area just for a specific product.
The Current State Of Play.
For two months now we have been uploading the many hundreds of audio and video files to a new encrypted secure area in Amazon Web Services.
We are at the point where there are about two thirds of the files in place.
All of the products that are currently available in our Hypnosis For Download online shop will be added within the next three weeks. We have concentrated first on the bigger programmes.
Last Week Of January
So here we are in the final week of January when it is probably the best time to reassess your New Years resolutions.
Why not try out a membership at Hypnosis For Streaming Membership area – where you will have a huge amount of Self Help resources.
DON’T FORGET – With a couple of referrals who become members you will have this massive library resource available for NOTHING. And you are in a place to make some money as well.
I want to repeat that ‘Affiliates Know Your Product’ AND I have a story to tell to illustrate this.
The reason I am writing this blog is because I had an e-mail (from somebody I know quite well – but I will keep his identity secret) He was replying to a message I had sent out about our new affiliate programme for a Hypnosis For Streaming membership website.
Here is the message I received.
Message from Mr X Could I just clarify my understanding of your email? It seems to be that you are now moving to a model where you charge people to be affiliates? Have I read correctly? If I have understood correctly, I’m out and I would be grateful for an early reply so i can remove my current links. It would be a shame as I know and like Adam’s products but (again, if I have understood correctly) I think it is absolutely wrong to charge people for being an affiliate.
Oh dear – as a marketer I had totally failed to get across my message AND the value I was offering. Furthermore I was losing somebody who was the very best person to promote the membership – somebody who already has a lot of knowledge about self-hypnosis.
Let me make it clear – there is no charge for being an affiliate. The charge is for the membership area to get to know more about what they are promoting..
Affiliates are the people I want to send money to.
For some time I have been wanting to bring affiliates in to promote our online audios and videos. In fact early last year I set up an affiliate programme and my main focus then was to try to get hypnotherapists on board as I knew that they would relate to the products. However – the results were poor. I got over 100 affiliates but only a small number made any money.
What was worse is that I checked and the majority of affiliates had not actually even bought anything from the Hypnosis for Download store.
They did not know the products they were promoting!!
You can actually see the issue when you look at this word cloud.
The point you will quickly appreciate when you are an affiliate is that you a promoting a product with a lot of help for a large range of issues. Getting inside the membership area you will soon see that the needs of different members will vary.
No two members will use the contents in the same way.
How could individual affiliates promote specific products as the individual needs varied.
How could I offer the products in a different way so that individuals could find the right combination of audio hypnosis sessions to suit their needs?
Yes I had questions about all of these things.
SO I WANTED HELP – AND I GOT IT
So I joined an Internet Marketing website to learn more about how to attract affiliates AND help them make money.
To find out more about NAMS Internet Marketing you get the products on the right hand side of this blog.
I learned something very quickly. This marketing membership was full of content – some that interested me and some that didn’t. A library of content for me to select what I wanted AND I had access to it all.
It is a bit like one of those TV memberships such as Netflix, who have 1000s of films etc which you join just to get what you want.
NAMS had an affiliate programme only available for members.
So what did I do? It was great and really wanted to promote the membership – and I still do.
I used my affiliate link and got some members on board so that my 47$ USD monthly fee was covered. – AND of course why should that stop there.
What a great model. I wanted to promote the membership because I was a member and I KNOW THE PRODUCT.
This is THE KEY
The individual components were varied and I would find it hard to pick on specific content.
NO NEED – I could promote the NAMS membership which I knew would contain marketing training in so many specific areas.
So This has Become My New Approach.

What About Mr X
Well I hope the above will help Mr X understand what I am trying to do. Of course I will be writing to him personally. Mr X has trained with Adam so he does know the products quite well.
What I hope Mr X hopefully will also realise the same as me – is that Marketing is not easy. You have to get over your message clearly or there will be misconceptions.
Promoting the Membership
It is the membership and how it works as a teaching center and a library of self-hypnosis content. I want to get members on board who will see the value and will then be able to point out – that whatever your behaviours, addictions, phobias etc that there are skills to be learned self-hypnosis sessions that will help.
I just don’t want Affiliates wasting their time signing up to promote products and take no action. No use to them and none for me – LOSE – LOSE
However – there is no need to become an affiliate and what we have on offer is a good reason to belong – FULL STOP.
I hope for quite the opposite.
I want people to join as members and quickly realise that the contents could be used by people with mental health issues through to people wanting success in running, business etc. It is enthused members that will be able to refer others with a simple affiliate link. Two members on board and their membership cost is covered. After that the income – ongoing because it is recurring income.
There is no charge for the affiliate programme – the payment is for the huge content areas. I want affiliates to realise and point out the value. I am trying to give affiliates the tools they need. The knowledge of subject and to be able to promote with confidence as they know the product is good. Each referral you make who becomes a member is a WIN for you and a WIN for me.
Know Your Product and you will want others to join with all of the same advantages as you have. You will also be able to use the listing above of benefits for you to promote the same offer to your list.
This is the time of year to do something for yourself and to set your income targets.
Why not join this membership and promote the membership as an affiliate?
About this time of year I would usually be putting out adverts in our Hypnosis For Download ecommerce store for ‘Think Yourself Thin’ or ‘Stop Smoking Now’.
But NOT this year – 2018 is different.
On offer are loads of products – in fact – well over 200.
Furthermore you will get products such as ‘The Science Of Self-Hypnosis’ and ‘Hypnosis Revealed’ which are great for educating you all about how to use self-hypnosis effectively.
The ‘Science of Self-Hypnosis’ product is an online support for this book …
There are so many misconceptions about hypnosis because of the theatrical hypnosis stage acts. People get the impression (and it is often magnified by the performers presentation manner and words) that the hypnotist is controlling the audience participants. This is totally not the case.
That is a tragedy as far as I am concerned as I know the therapeutic use of hypnosis is powerful and effective when delivered correctly – and the user is totally in control – AFTER ALL it is SELF-HYPNOSIS therefore it has to be SELF CONTROL.
I wouldn’t be the slightest bit interested if that wasn’t the case. I am a church going christian and some of the people I meet at church have the same question about the control of someone else. I am going to shout again – NO IT IS NOT!!
Being in Hypnosis is Like…
When sportsmen are preparing to compete – they get in the zone (that is the closest analogy I can give) When the kids are up stairs watching TV and you call them to dinner – they are mesmerised by what is going on – they are hypnotised – and that is why they don’t hear you. Hypnosis is focused imagination. A layman’s explanation I know as I am not a hypnotherapist.
In the picture above you will see the sub title of the book – ‘The Evidence Based Way To Hypnotise Yourself’. That is a much better message. In the book there are a range of methods, for anyone to apply to achieve
a hypnotic mindset,
develop hypnotic skills,
deepen the experience of hypnosis,
apply a range of evidence based techniques and strategies for self-improvement.
Now the online ‘Science Of Self-Hypnosis’ takes all of the book content and provides audio recordings of the techniques.
In the educational part of the Hypnosis For Streaming I have made sure that the training comes first as it is ideal to have the best approach for the hypnosis sessions to work effectively.
So at the top of the membership area there are 4 educational products.
The membership has over 200 self-hypnosis products – some of them being fully narrated programmes. I know because it has taken me well over 100 hours in December to add them to the ‘Hypnosis For Streaming’ membership site. If you want to see all of the products you will have access to as a member – just look through HypnosisForDownload.com. They will all be in there.
About half of the products are in there at the moment – the aim is to get them all in there by the end of February.
Here is the good bit.
Members Can Become Affiliates
I have been trying for some time to get affiliates on board to help promote the products. In many ways it is difficult for affiliates to promote very small priced hypnosis sessions. So I wanted to overcome that problem.
Also it is also vitally important that affiliates know as much as possible about the product they are selling.
So let me be honest – I had to think about this one.
I was lucky as I joined a website (which I will tell you more about another day) and I liked their structure and the strategies used there. I liked it so much that I have nicked their ideas.
I am only letting people who are members become affiliates – because they will know about the product and will be able to give testimonials etc.
There is an incentive for the affiliates to do something – this is more important than I thought.
Just getting two new members will mean that the affiliate will cover his/her own membership cost and have free access.
After that the affiliate will earn monthly commissions on referred members.
So would you like to join me?
It is only $10 a month to join – and you will get access to skills that can help you — AND — access to a private affiliate package offering 50% commissions on members you refer. The same rules apply to those members as well.
The prices are in USD as the membership is open to anyone anywhere.
Head Chatter – that ‘Conversation with Yourself’ that goes on the whole time. Control it with Self-Hypnosis.
We all have it – It can be very helpful but it can also work against us –
stop us from doing things
make excuses galore
The head chatter is relentless and happens everywhere and is often unrelated to what we are doing. Oh the day dreaming of a youth in that lesson at school.
For example – if a vicar asked his congregation to come out and write on a chalk board what was going on inside their head as he delivers his sermon – I wonder how many would be able to do that honestly – without embarrassment.
The mind has many more secret ways of working. I woke up recently having dreamed about teaching an old lady to drive. What !?!! – where did that come from. I have never taught anyone to drive in my life. Dreams and nightmares – that powerful mind.
Consider all the hours that are lost asking yourself all of these questions.
Well – what about this?
I don’t have this problem – but I do have a wife and daughter (perhaps I should leave this one) – enough said.
The mind is an amazing thing and I have spent the last decade (reason for mentioning decade will become clear) learning a thing or to about hypnotherapy, mindfulness and other behavioural therapies simply by working alongside hypnotherapist Adam.
NOW – Timeline And Onwards
I have just celebrated my seventieth birthday and I have written recently about the changes I personally want to make to get what I want out of life in my seventies.
I have three projects in mind and this is an introduction to Project 1.
Project 1 – Getting as many people as possible to understand and use hypnosis and other mental techniques.
These talking therapies are totally misunderstood by most people and that is a shame as they can help with all of the mental issues, addictions, self-esteem etc etc etc
So many of the mental problems out there can be helped with talk therapies.
Until I was about 60 – I worked in nursing which was a great career.
We attempted to work holistically with patients but it was hard to find the time to really deal with all the mental issues of the care.
One of the things I really got to appreciate though was that patients responded very differently to their recovery from illness depending upon their mental state. Those that had a positive approach and were determined to just get over the illness and move on, undoubtedly recovered much faster than the patients who were negative or anxious, depressed etc.
In fact – look at all areas of life and you can see the same thing. How does your football team get on after they have had a couple of defeats – well often more losses will follow … that mind thing. The manager needs to work on their confidence and vision of winning again. Imagine it in a focused way and you will be halfway there.
In the last 10 years I learned a lot as I worked with Adam Eason:
As an example – I have watched my hypnotherapy friend Adam, help to change the mindset of smokers using self-hypnosis audios.
Take Chris – One of my friends who gave up smoking having just used the self-hypnosis smoking course that he bought from our Hypnosis For Download website. Within a couple of weeks I heard him talking to someone in the pub and saying he was a ‘non smoker’. His whole self-image and mindset had changed that rapidly.
What you begin to believe becomes the reality – in your mind and in the way you speak and act. The head chatter changes and works with you – you CAN control it.
I know that if you understand, and learn the skills and techniques, and apply them to change your mindset (control that head chatter) you will be able to overcome many personal issues. Even physical health conditions are helped with hypnosis.
My Seventies Decade
One of my three seventies projects that I am developing is to get as many people as possible using hypnosis and other mental therapeutic techniques skills.
I am NOT the man to do that though. All I have said above is just from me – and I am not trained in the hypnosis field.
BUT what I can do is point you to the best person in the field – Adam Eason. He could probably pick holes in what I have written above. I don’t care I am close to the mark.
I am keen to encourage you to discover the secret powers of self-hypnosis.
The best I can do is to point you in the direction of one of the leading trainers in the field, Adam Eason who has written books about hypnosis. and trained hundreds of hypnotherapists. In fact, in the products on offer below you will see videos of Adam teaching the skills I am on about.
Commercial Bit – I have NEVER done this on a Blog Before.
Here is the real deal from reading this blog post – yes I have a BONUS.
There are two audios/videos that I would like to check out and as you can see they are massively discounted. They took Adam and myself many hours to produce – but the content is important and I want you to learn from these videos and audios.
Thank You For Reading
This offer is for people that read this blog post.
Now the head chatter kicks in.
“Shall I try this out” “Do I believe him?” “If I get this – will I watch them?”
“I thought hypnosis was someone controlling” “I can’t get in a trance”
and other such nonsense. etc.
That head chatter works fast – see if you can count the words.
Of course I am joking and NOT.
Here is what I hope – I hope you will decide to learn some new helpful powerful self-hypnosis techniques from Adam.
Here are the two products I would like you to check out:
