An argument is raging through the blogs and Twitter at the moment about Internet Marketers and John Reese in particular using Social Media for their activities.
Let me make it plain from the start I am defending John Reese. He doesn’t need me to do that – he is successful enough, clever enough, and web aware enough to do that himself. I choose to do that because I want to – just as much as I choose to follow him on Twitter because I know I can learn a lot from this knowledgable Internet Marketer.
Let me come back to that specific issue in a minute though. (more…)
I have been posting on Adam Eason Inner Circle forum about twittering. It is very hard to explain quite how useful this technology is. There are some people on there who do a lot and I mean a lot of studying and sourcing the information they want. Google and Wiki are OK’ish for static data but there is a much more fluid nature to information now. Searching for relevant information via that old search method is slow, dry, tedious and boring.
Since my entry into ‘Twitterdom’ I can honestly say that I have learned more from others in a fun, social way and been recommended to pinpoint accurate sources of information for answers to my questions. Sometimes within seconds of asking around.
The thing about twittering is it’s brevity and flexibility. And if you get things set
up right your twitters get updated on your Facebook, WordPress blog and other social
media anyway if that is what you want. (more…)
It may be difficult given the large number that exist – but I avoid as far as is humanly possible negative people. They are everywhere – especially in the media. Do journalists have to go on a negativity course to do their work?
One of the best bits of business advice I ever received was – surround
yourself with positive people. You have only to look around at
successful entrepreneurs to realise the truth of that advice.
Despite my best attempts though I read one of those moany whingeing type of blog entries this morning – (I must admit on a blog site that I usually enjoy) – which prompted me to leave a comment on the site. The writer is apparently tired of the pressure to join Social Networks and goes on to point out the security problems associated with these sites.
Here verbatim is my comment I left at the site. (more…)
I get it! I see what all this twittering is about. Forgive my obsession with Twittering this week but this has really impressed me.
I won’t go through chronologically what I have been up to on Twitter because you can go to http://twitter.com/keithwatson/ and follow me.
My only regret is that I didn’t sign up to use my real name – I might do that as I have only 3 days of use to lose – and I can always follow the same people again.
The term to follow is an interesting one. Who would you follow in life – only people you felt could offer you more than you have now. So I am very selective who I choose to link to follow.
I realised very quickly that Twitter must be an important site when I saw the calibre of people joining. One in particular stood out for me – Thomas Power Chairman of Ecademy. (more…)
I am Twittering and not totally sure why yet but I am taking advice. But first of all let me explain how this has come about.
I am totally changing things around here. I am absolutely fed up to the back teeth with all the hypey, must have 5 minute wonders that pass as major ground breaking product launches.
My e-mails are swamped with messages from the same spammy IM characters – who have a friend, who has made pots of money, and is now launching the secrets of how that was all achieved etc etc etc etc etc etc.
I actually bought into some of that hype in the past.
So decision time. Who are to be my mentors? – who do I respect the opinion of? (more…)
