I think I would like to ….. thank Lou Tice

The words that you use when you are talking to yourself – I mean that inner chat that goes on inside your head – are important.  So much of that babble is negative if you don’t watch it.  What is holding you back from doing so many things that could improve your life – just that inner talk I suspect.

I received an e-mail this morning from one of the most positive people that I know.  He is Lou Tice and to get some idea of his take on life you can visit his Happiness Blog.

So with full credits to the source I give you the contents of the e-mail verbatim.

Great advice!!

A few years ago I decided I didn’t like all the
“shoulds” in my life. So I made a  switch, from “I
should” to “I think I would like to”. It has taken a lot of
pressure off of me, and left me feeling like a really have choices about my
destiny!”

I figure that most of us were raised with
“shoulds” from our parents and family members, perhaps our faith. And
while some of these “shoulds” were valid and created to maintain safe
and productive communities, some of them have become millstones around our
necks.

You know I am a big advocate of self-examination. It is
good – from time to time – to take a look at the attitudes and habits that are
running our life.Along with the comfort zones and restrictive zones, I
take a look to see if I have a “should” running around unattended. I
give it a thorough “look-see” to make sure that it is valid, and not keeping me from
exploring new opportunities or possibilities.

Life is about choices, and you have the ability to
choose.  You always have had this
ability. I suggest that not only do you have the ability, you have the
responsibility to make choices for yourself. It is your life, and you are in
the driver’s seat, if you choose to be.
